The Incredible Hulk: Ideal

Okay, before I head off to watch the Incredible Hulk this evening, I think I should probably give my opinions on it. Yes, that's right, here at RVI, we're not afraid to make rash judgements before even watching a film! This is cutting edge journalism* folks!
This could all be a little bit reactionary, I used to always trust in the critics to make decisions for me (to an extent) but with last weeks surprise of Speed Racer, which only managed to score an average of 36% from critical reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, I think I should come to form my own decisions.

So, now onto being hopeful about The Incredible Hulk. Like all superhero films coming out these days, it's easy to be hopeful. With the recent critical and box office success of films such as Iron Man, Batman Begins and the Spider-man movies, we are now in the age of the comic book blockbuster. The humanisation of the comic book hero starting from Alan Moore's Watchmen (Soon to become it's own film) has finally made its way to Hollywood. With this in mind, Hulk should be the perfect silver screen character, right?

Bruce Banner has an internal struggle of epic proportions, going from mild mannered and brilliant scientist to man-beast, putting all he holds dear in danger. It's all so very Jekyll and Hyde .

Well, from Ang Lee's abysmal Hulk (2003), not necessarily. But I'm being optimistic that this series reboot will do a better job. Frankly, it's because of Edward Norton. I watched Fight Club again the other night. He is awesome in that movie. And I hear he rewrote the script of this film to reove any references to the last one. Nice work. Also, from the images I've seen, Hulk now looks more realistic than the green Stretch Armstrong from the last film.

'HULK BACK!'

Now that's a beast I don't want to mess with. Grizzly! Anway, If this film combines the deep characterization the franchise can possibly offer with the inevitable explosions caused when hulk throws shit at shit, I think The Incredible Hulk Will be a winner, probably not of the same calibre as Iron Man or the upcoming Dark Knight (I pray), but I hope it's not a Fantastic Four or Ghost Rider.

I should probably also clear up that contrary to Emerald-Fox's previous post, the actor from the last film is Eric Bana. The character he played is Bruce Banner. How confusing.
